Rhine embankment promenade

No wonder, since the promenade between the old town and the river has so much to offer: balmy breezes and spectacular sunsets, gastronomy with a view at the Kasematten, an open staircase and also the city beaches during summer time. The prerequisite for the one-and-a-half kilometre quality of life was the construction of the Rhine bank tunnel. Original Düsseldorfers who know the situation from earlier times still congratulate themselves on the fact that the traffic that flowed parallel to the river here before 1990 now flows underground.
